Before I started decompression therapy I was in pain all the time. I couldn’t sit, stand or sleep. An MRI showed that I had three bulging discs and they were pressing on the nerves to my hip and groin area. I did months of physiotherapy and even tried acupuncture – nothing seemed to help.
I started spinal decompression therapy and that’s when I noticed the difference and it was fabulous. After the third treatment I started to really notice a difference and after the sixth teatment I went off my pain medication (it was upsetting my stomach) and I had no more sleepless nights.
I am so thankful for spinal decompression, Dr. Lawrence and his wonderful staff; they really gave me back my life. I avoided a painful surgery and a longer recovery so I’m very grateful. Claudette K, Ottawa

I have had lower back pain for many years. I have been unable to participate in sports, particularly golf and snow-shoeing because of the pain. I went to other chiropractors for many years, but the treatments did not alleviate the pain to any great extent. I asked Dr. Lawrence about the DRX system. He told me, after consultation, that I was a good candidate for the treatments.
I underwent the full treatment protocol, which included 8 sessions with the exercise therapist, Marla Ericksen. I now have very little lower back pain. My posture has improved dramatically and I can sit or stand for long periods of time without any discomfort. I even walked around Pink Lake (1.2 km, including several sets of stairs) with no after-effects.

I wish to share my personal experience in relation to my back condition, particulary with those who are suffering from back pain and are to have back surgery or just waiting for a miracle to happen and/or have lost all hope for recovery after all else failed and/or don’t have a clue about the benefits of decompression therapy. I hope for their own sake they give it a try.
I’m a petite woman of 52 years of age, and have suffered a full seven years with terrible back pain. The last two years my quality of life was lost entirely for I was experiencing extreme pain 24/7. I had lost all hope that my condition would improve in the least with or without surgery. I was extremely frightened of the surgery that I was waiting to have. The odds were not that great. In the interim of waiting for my surgery date, my husband heard publicity on a local radio station concerning the Broadview Spine & Health Centre and their decompression unit. I thought to myself, what did I have to lose? I might as well call them and hopefullly I would be a candidate for this treatment. To my knowledge my MRI diagnosed 3 herniated discs, 3 hairline fractures and spinal stenosis. I was in terrible pain all the time.
The day I had my consultation with Dr. Lawrence I regained hope for recovery. I was scheduled for 22 treatments on a regular basis for 2 months and around halfway through the treatment I was no longer walking folded in half like the first day when I had CRAWLED into the clinic. Today, as I write this note, I still have 4 remaining decompression treatments to go and I truly believe that for the first time in seven years I’m on my way to full recovery! I can dance, not like I used to before at this point, but I CAN dance pain free for a little bit and I CAN walk with my body standing straight, and I CAN take a shower without crashing down in the tub or just having to crawl out of the shower, and I CAN care for my personal hygiene without having to crawl to my bed halfway through blow-drying my hair or brushing my teeth, and I CAN do a little bit of light housework and last but not least I CAN lie on my back without having to lift my knees halfway! All this with no medication! I’m looking forward to returning to the beautiful beaches of Florida in search of the precious Mucuna. I still have one big hurdle to overcome and by the way my condition is improving I can almost see it around the bend! Isn’t this great! All this in the interim of only 6 weeks. I am very grateful to Dr. Lawrence and his compassionate care and friendly staff for the excellent care they have provided me with (and still do) and for having brought the decompression unit to our city of Ottawa. Huge Thanks! Monique C., Orleans
My back is in better shape than it has been for years. I don’t have to worry about what I do anymore as long as I am careful and don’t over-stress it. I don’t wake up with a sore back in the morning and I very seldom get backaches. I am able to do all the activities that I enjoy; hockey, curling and golf, without having to worry about getting backaches. If I do over-exert myself the recovery is much faster. Burtt L., Ottawa
